Working with Sweden
A UK software engineer who has already worked with Sweden.
Websites, booking, AI and bespoke software for Swedish businesses — from an engineer who led consultancy for Swedish clients at a Swedish-founded firm.
My Swedish experience is direct: Nexer — the consultancy where I led eCommerce engagements — is a Swedish-founded company, and my clients there spanned the UK, Sweden and Germany. I ran technical reviews, roadmaps and solution architecture for them, often as the first person in on a new engagement. Sweden's lagom, no-nonsense way of buying software suits how I sell it: a clear scope, a fixed quote, and working software.
Why this works
Why businesses in Sweden work with me.
Direct experience with Swedish clients and a Swedish-founded consultancy — the working culture is familiar, not foreign.
Swedish businesses are digitally mature buyers; I don't need to sell you on why software matters, just deliver it properly — tested, documented, and built to last.
English is a working language in Swedish business, so nothing is lost between the brief and the build.
One hour of timezone offset means genuinely shared working days — reviews, calls and quick decisions all in real time.
The practical bit
How working together actually runs.
Timezone
Sweden is one hour ahead of the UK, year-round. Your 9:00 is my 8:00, and our working days overlap almost entirely — the collaboration feels local.
Language
I work in English, which is standard in Swedish business. The product can be Swedish, English or both — multilingual builds are something I've delivered at the scale of 24 languages for the EU Parliament.
Data protection & contracts
GDPR-grade engineering is my default — I've built platforms where no data leaves the perimeter. Contracts are fixed written quotes from TSMW Development LTD, a UK limited company; euro or krona-denominated invoicing can be arranged.

Common questions
Questions from Sweden.
What's your actual experience with Sweden?
At Nexer — a Swedish-founded consultancy — I was a contract Software Consultancy Lead running 360 technical reviews, roadmaps and solution architecture for eCommerce clients across the UK, Sweden and Germany. I helped win two new clients and supported several blue-chip accounts.
Do we work in English or Swedish?
We work in English, which in my experience Swedish teams are completely fluent in. If the product itself needs to be in Swedish — or Swedish and English — I build multilingual properly, with translated SEO metadata and language-aware routing.
How does the timezone work?
Sweden is just one hour ahead of the UK. We share essentially the whole working day, so there's no waiting-overnight dynamic at all — questions get answered the hour you ask them.
How do quotes and invoicing work from Sweden?
The same as for my UK clients: a scoping call, then a fixed written quote from TSMW Development LTD, a UK limited company. Invoicing can be denominated in SEK or EUR if that simplifies your bookkeeping.
